Anyway, “Scoob!” Is a delightful and fun family film that all fans of the “Scooby Doo” cartoons will enjoy. It even includes the origin of how the gang got together, which I thought was pretty cool. The real star of the movie is the cgi animation, which is flat-out gorgeous. Everything is colorful and vibrant, with faithful renderings of Scooby and his friends.
The theme of the movie is “friendship.” The story primarily focuses on Scooby and Shaggy. While Fred is the muscle of the group, and Velma is the brains, and Daphne is the empath - what do the lovable but cowardly Shaggy and Scooby bring?
My only gripe? For me, it strays too far from the cartoon’s basic themes of mystery and scary fun. It’s very sci-fi in nature, as the story prominently also features the Blue Falcon, Dick Dastardly and other Hanna Barbara characters. It’s still fun and entertaining, but I much prefer an old-fashioned story with the gang going up against spooky ghosts and monsters.
I do recommend “Scoob!” for anyone who loves the “Scooby Doo” franchise or quality animation. **** out of five stars!
